Jan. 26th, 2005 11:57 amJossverse newbie question: There *has* to be a vid out there where Faith talks about how Angel is the only one who's never given up on her when everyone else did. Just point it to me, please? Thanks. (I just finished "Soulless" [ETA: No, "Salvage"! Damn episode titles!] - do not spoil. Though I let vids spoil me all the time.)
My I-Man pilot eps are downloading unacceptably slowly. I desperately need a way around this! Suggestions? Thank you.

Date: 2005-01-26 07:00 pm (UTC)I’ve listened to the song a couple times now, and this is exactly what I meant by wanting the challenge of seeing things *way beyond* what the song says. I can see some things, and wow, intense and potentially eye-opening. But mostly it's scary. I need a bridge to get to the sisabet brain. Can't wait to discuss it with you.

Date: 2005-01-26 07:46 pm (UTC)"And you do what they taught you" -- there is a dual meaning here and it can mean both the council and (for both Wes and Faith) Angel.
Both Wes and Faith lose a lot when they abide only by the council's rules - Faith rebels and ends up on a murderous rampage. Wes is abandoned (because of his failure with Faith).
Both turn to Angel. Both must deal with the fact that Angel is both the thing that they were taught to kill and he is also the very thing that has their salvation.
So there is that. There is also the very nice, nice twist that Angel is also everything the council says he is: a dangerous killer and eventually both Wes and Faith will have come up against him (and you are just now watching this arc, so more on this later)- the man they love, the man that gave them purpose and also - the fact that he is not a man at all.
Tie into that the idea that by knowing and following Angel, Faith is able to move closer to the light, while it is his association with Angel that pushes Wes closer and closer to the dark so that by the time you arrive at the events unfolding in AtS S4, you have essentially had Wes and Faith switch selves from the start of the vid -- at the beginning Faith is the loose cannon and at the end that lose cannon is Wes.
And it is all because of Angel. "Fuck you, I won't do what you tell me!" That is a refrain of anger and it can be flashed to Faith in the shower confronting the fact that she can't take Angel on (or what will have to happen if she does) to Wes breaking away from everything he knows (first council, then Angel) and don't forget Wes and Faith and the bloody bloody history betweeen the two.
Well, it should be a fabulous time.

Date: 2005-01-26 08:06 pm (UTC)It is this very idea that led me to putting "Little Altar Boy" by the Carpenters on my To Vid list. Faith POV speaking to Wes about Angel. I should be ashamed, but I'm not. Hee.

Date: 2005-01-26 08:23 pm (UTC)I am *terrified* of this vidbunny. New fandom, 180 degree change in style, and total challenge in thinking. Just what I need.
And hee! "Such Great Heights" the song is extremely addictive. The Postal Service in general makes me want to skip around on my toes.

Right now I'm just having more and more visuals.

Date: 2005-01-26 08:40 pm (UTC)I need to do serious source study.
PS: Have you given vidbunny custody to someone who ended up with something completely different from your visuals? Did you forgive that person?
