Hon, it's going to take me a long time to DL all the shows. Like, a long, long, long time because my ADSL is about as slow as molasses going uphill in winter. No, not kidding. Plus, when I get disconnected, which happens often, people grab my slot, which just adds time to my DL time. :(

Season 1 just premiered here in Canada on Showcase so I'm giving it a whirl. It's... I'm not sure what to think of it yet. It's hard for me to tell some of the characters apart though and now that season 2 is all abuzz I'm quite confused on some things, lol.

The second ep is on tomorrow night so I'll keep on watching and see what's what.

Well... those butterflies I felt when I fell in love with Brian and Justin? They're here.

L Word is not flashy and in-your-face like QaF. Importantly, it has a different philosophy on sexuality than QaF. It will show you things.

QaF is like a dream. L Word feels closer, more organic. Like it could happen to me.

Also! The L Word doesn't have this in-your-face political agenda. It's not all about the latest GLBT cause and ridiculous bike races and heterophobia. It's really more about these women and their lives and loves. I think, actually, it is more of a lesbian version of Sex and the City than it is Queer as Folk.

I know it's weird, but I hate having this show compared to Queer as Folk. Seriously. I don't know why I get so riled up about it, especially since I enjoy both shows. I guess, because whenever somebody compares one to the other, it's to diss one of the shows and to proclaim the other as better. 1) Don't diss my shows. And 2) THEY ARE JUST TOO DIFFERENT TO DO THAT. If we are going to try to compare The L Word to another show, I think it is more accurate to compare it to Sex and the City. Even the original promotional material for The L Word was trying to capatilize on that perception ("Same Sex. Different City.")

And Shane is not Brian. I mean, yes, Shane is a huge slut. But there is something way more open and honest about her. She's not a drama queen. And she can openly love and care for her friends, unlike Brian. Really, her problem isn't so much that she is trying to avoid love, it's that she just loves women too much. She wants them all. And she doesn't want to see any of her lady loves hurt. As she said in S1, she hates it when girls cry. Really, she just wants to have a good time. :D

Please start making L Word vids, OMG.

ME TOO ASKJDSLKF IT MAKES ME MAD. It's not like I don't understand - I did the same thing in the beginning! But I think that was why I couldn't get attached on my first try. As soon as I started to see that they were completely different worlds, well - you know the rest.
