I keep wanting to update, but anything coherent has been lost (and seriously - I blame Farscape). So I'll just do random assortments. I think more in bullet points anyway.
So I finished Farscape, but it's difficult to be all joyous because well - I'm sad. There should be support groups for those mourning the end of a new obsession. But I must thank friends - the glorious Floscapers (tm,
tzikeh) - who have been walking me through this incredible journey. I'm so glad I listened to your guidance, and thanks for not being annoyed even *once* with my newbie silliness. You all are just so patient with me! I'll definitely miss the support-group chats, and hope we're still on for watching some Farscape at VividCon.
So I'm trying to describe the things I love most about Farscape, and I think one big thing that stands out is that it's a very cognitive show. Without talking storylines - because I hate to cut-tag in the middle of a post - I'd just like to say how much I appreciate three things. First, that the show assumes viewers' intellect like whoa. It's so rich you can't possibly get everything in your first viewing, but you can tell that there's always something more - way more - than what you see. The tight and thoughtful systems, structures, and continuity in such formidable worlds, the framing, the metaphors and double-fucking-entendres, the meticulous attention to detail, and the *language*, to name just a few! The makers really know their work, something that is not as common in show makers as we might expect. Second, that The Thing Everyone Wants is inherently brainy. It's not a physical superpower, bravery, or instincts (though the show portrays these brilliantly too). It's knowledge, and that's hot. Third, nothing is ever over-done. Shows that hit you over the head are very enticing, but most of the time you're not left wondering as much, or finding new things every time you rewatch. This show hits you over the head but makes you think it had only hit you over the arm. Heh - evil, I know. But you know what? As much as it hurts, this show makes you not want to ever lose hope, and importantly, you *know* that it will all be worth it. Sigh. It's like watching four seasons of theatrical productions.
So VividCon is really starting to feel close. Is it too soon to worry about the vid deadline? Cause I am. What if this and what if that. I need to remaster my planned Nearly New vid, which shouldn't take more than 3-4 days, but who knows. My planned Premieres vid is in somewhat okay shape, but I haven't worked on it in so long and much betaing is still to come, so we'll see. In Auction vid news, I'm just about done clipping the most significant bulk of material we will need. That took only 5 days - not bad at all. I'm sure I will gush much more along the way, but
killabeez? Genius. She's also a sweetheart and we seem to be on the same page and it's just great. This weekend I hope to accomplish something with the vid. Parts, maybe. Sections longer than 9 seconds that make sense and - importantly! - won't have *too* much distracting vampire hotness that makes TAKING A BREAK a necessity. Am such a pathetic new shipper.
So 24 more days to the Queer as Folk Season 5 premiere. I can't believe how fast the hiatus has been - I almost didn't feel a thing. But this is a big deal. My first-ever obsessively fannish show is ending and dang - I don't know how I feel about it. I'll deal and introspect and stuff when the time comes. But for now, I thought I'd jump on the spoiler-policy bandwagon and say the following most important message: If you even mention that Brian and Justin will so much as *have a conversation* anytime during the season, you die. Thank you :D
So people have been talking vids and vidding a lot lately. That makes me all sorts of happy. Keep going, hee.
So the Serenity trailer squee is still going strong. This movie will be the best thing ever. And? It opens right on my birthday. WHEE!
Finally, I am ready for Farscape vid recs. I just watched "Under Ice" and "Adiemus" by Birgit that Killa recced, and WOW - they were almost too intense for my still-vulnerable psyche. I'll have to let things sink in first before I can process them. But hit me anyway. What are your favorite Farscape vids (and why)? And please feel free to talk about your own.
In conclusion: Whimper. Sob. RRRRRRRRRRYAYAYAYAYAYAAAA!!!!

Seconding (thirding, fourthing?) the rec. of "S.O.S.". "A & B Song" is cool. And I love tazey's "Karaoke Soul", which gets into some of the s4 stuff in a really interesting way.
