I'm leaving the country on Thursday for a month. It's for both vacation and work and I will miss you all so much OMG. I agonized over whether or not I should bring my CPU -- the thought of being without it for so long was pure horror -- but I was worried about security clearance, because even though I'd done it before, it was pre-2001. So I went through the asking around and the checking with the airline and the angsting, only to find out that the thing can't even fit in my carry-on. =))=))

So. In order to avoid having a panic attack if, say, I have a sudden urge to watch Linzee's Hello, Timebomb or Kanzeyori's The Fragile or heres_luck's Superstar or sisabet and Lum's Whatever or Pips' Ordinary or SDwolfpup's Coin-operated Boy, I spent some time yesterday burning heavily-rotating vids into CDs. I burned some source too, because even though there's almost no chance in hell I will vid, I just can't live without my Ripped Full Screen folder of clips on me.

There's a chance I won't be as miserable as expected without my computer life, though. There's this big part of me that's kind of suppressed when I'm in the US. It's time to unleash the Asianhead within. Be afraid: I will be eating my favorite fruit ever that my American friends have dubbed "garlic-and-dead-fish fruit" and REALLY think I'm in heaven. Be very afraid.

I'm used to the long flights by now (though I might hyperventilate if thoughts of Lost come attacking me at random), and I want something good to read. In an ideal world I would be reading print outs of hot fics from you people, but Le Sigh, I can only hope. So can someone rec me your favorite can't-put-down contemporary novel(s)? I don't like crime stories but I love the gay. Thank you.

I will be attending my good friends' wedding reception less than 2 hours after my plane lands. It takes forever to get through immigration and customs and getting my luggage, and the city's traffic is worse than heading Wisconsin from Chicago on a Friday afternoon (where 2 hours can become 9), so I guess I'll be doing my make-up in transit in Japan. =))

I've been running around like crazy preparing for the leave that I'm so behind on flist. I have seen quite a few of the drabble meme things, though, and wow. So, so many people can write so well around here. Please excuse me for the lack of feedback but I love them all. I do.

Amidst it all, I've been watching Buffy S3 and S4. I started with S3 because I only wanted to see the seasons that had Faith in them. But man, I bawled through the entire S3 and Angel is hot. OMG okay, I take back everything I've said about Angel being old and stuff. Deeply sorry here. I'm just glad Wendy didn't post my embarrassing lusting from chat. I swear I had other thoughts too, but I'm 50 million years too late so who cares. And I've sort of forgotten them. Anyway, now I'm in desperate need of an Angel icon from that scene where, um, he practices fighting meditation-style? And Buffy says "I didn't know you could do that?" Yeah. Hot, QaF-style, gleaming sweaty naked torso please. I want it to look like he just got done fucking a trick in Babylon. I would be forever grateful.

I will miss Halloween, Thanksgiving, and of course the election OMG. I will be wearing my Gone Voting T-shirt in my pretending that I can actually vote. Please multiply your non-Bush votes by 57,284,684 on my behalf. I can be influential, you know.

In sum: I will miss you all so much. And Angel is hot.

*lip quiver*

I will be eating my favorite fruit ever that my American friends have dubbed "garlic-and-dead-fish fruit"

It's not so bad!!

I'm just glad Wendy didn't post my embarrassing lusting from chat.

What? This?:

Flo: Angel. GUH. He is so hot omg.
Flo: I want to lick his sweaty torso
Flo: His chest and arms and back, GUH
Flo: He is so hot omg, *lusts*
Flo: I want him, I want him in my bed.

*laughs evilly* (For the record, that is not a direct quotation.) ;));));));))

WE WILL ALL MISS YOU WHILE YOU ARE GONE! >:D<

Says the person who grew up eating raw onions for fun. You don't hate it because you're conditioned! Anyway, you're still the only American I know who like it. There's a reason you're the BFF. :X:X:X

And I can't believe you quoted me lusting over Angel almost so precisely. But you missed the part where I said "I never said this about Brian "

And ditto on the lip-quiver. Will be in touch, for sure. >:D

Have a most wonderful & productive-safe trip!

Hmmm- book recs?- I'm in a Louis De Bernieres-mood- so Corelli's Mandolin (one character is gay, but there is no sex to be had)- it is good size for long airplane trip and has much humour & educational value. (I read part of it on ferry trip between Seattle and Vancouver Island and fell off bench laughing).

And yes- Angel is much with the pretty and they really should have had him shirtless more often. Season 1 of Angel featured MUCH shirtless Angel and Angel shirtless after getting out of shower & still wet. *sigh* Nekkid & Wet Angel is just a good thing.
From: [identity profile] f1renze.livejournal.com
YAY thank you so much for the book rec!

And I have Angel S1, just waiting to be watched. There should be REALLY cheap DVDs where I'll be (if you know what I mean ) so Angel S1 will follow right after Buffy S5-7. Thanks for telling me I have more shirtlessness to look forward to.

This seems like the longest personal post you've ever written! LOL ;)

Will miss you very much - already haven't talked to you in a while! - and hope you have a wonderful time back in Asia, especially at your friend's wedding >:D<

Finally, :)))) on Angel and S3 Buffy/Angel. I figured you'd come around at some point ;)

If we multiple non-Bush votes by more than 57 million for you, this will barely counteract the confusion that the forces of chaos Floridians will undoubtedly cause :-P

Have a great time, will miss you, and talk to you when you get back! - Bethany

Definitely. I haven't seen my parents in over a year, and there will be close friends I can't wait to see at this wedding. So I *will* have fun, if only because I've spent too much money on my dress.

Finally, :)))) on Angel and S3 Buffy/Angel. I figured you'd come around at some point ;)

Hey! I never said I shipped B/A! As in above everything else, I mean. Cause I ship everything on that show OMG. The hottest thing I've seen so far has got to be Faith and Xander, though. =))=)) And OMG okay I have one problem: Buffy and Riley. WTF, WTF. TAs are not supposed to date their students it is so incestuous and gross kthx.

Thanks, Beth! Will miss you too. >:D

Book Rec

Date: 2004-10-25 05:22 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] catkcrl.livejournal.com
Recently discovered Christopher Rice (son of Anne) and he does gay good according to nearly all reviews....The Snow Garden is pretty cool so far. Started it last weekend.

If you haven't tried Laurell K. Hamilton, for pure smut (a mix of het and homo), and some really bizarre-ass fantasy plots she can't be beat. No literary masterpieces here, but hard to put down for sheer fun and 'guilty pleasure'. She's got two series going -- one Vampire/Werewolves (Anita Blake series) and one Faeries (Meredith Gentry series). It's unique stuff -- think of it as printed junk food. You know it's not good for you, but you eat it up anyway.

Have a safe and joyful trip. You'll be greatly missed.
